joinpd.con Enter the code: Join a Presentation in Progress – Pear Deck Login Guide
A Pear Deck Session becomes an Assignment @ joinpd.con when Pear Deck is integrated into Schoology. In contrast to a standard PearDeck presentation Session, this allows your students in Schoology immediate access to the Session without the requirement for a Join Code or Link at joinpd.con.
In addition to automatically saving the responses you gather in your Sessions menu as usual, Schoology also enables you to retrieve your responses through the Teacher Dashboard.
Users who currently have a district- or school-wide Pear Deck membership are the only ones who can use this feature. If you have any questions, do inquire with the Pear Deck administrator at your school or send an email to he**@pe******.com.
How To Create a Pear Deck Assignment @ joinpd.con
- Open Schoology.
- Go to Courses. You can create a new course or open an existing one.
- On the Course page, click Add Materials and select Add File/Link/External Tool.
- In the pop-up window, select External Tool.
- Select Pear Deck from the drop-down option in the Tool Provider section.
- Make your assignment unique by adding a title, parameters, grading capability, etc. You already have the URL, Consumer Key, and Shared Secret setup.
- If you want students to be able to click Submit Work in Schoology once this lesson is over, be sure to tick the Enable Grading box.
- To get back to the Courses page, click Submit. Your homework has now been uploaded. You can unpublish the assignment until you have finished configuring the session if you aren’t ready to proceed.
How To Start your assignment
- Prepare a presentation using an interactive Pear Deck for Google Slides or a PowerPoint Online Slides file. The presentation files are immediately stored to your Google Drive or OneDrive, and in Step 5 you will choose which one you want to show the students.
- Go to the Courses page on Schoology.
- Select the Pear Deck project you made. When you create the assignment, you can give it any title; however, in this instance, I called it Pear Deck Assignment.
- Take note that the assignment has been made public. While setting up the session, you might wish to use the Gear symbol to unpublish the assignment so that it does not show up for your students until you are ready.
- Select a file from Drive or OneDrive by clicking the button. You must log into Pear Deck the first time you present a Pear Deck file in Schoology.
- Locate and choose the Google Slides, PowerPoint Online Slides, or OneDrive file that you wish to show your students in the file chooser.
- Select the lesson mode. One of the Presenter Views (Projector or Dashboard) opens for you in Schoology depending on the Lesson Mode you select.
- Student-Paced Mode (asynchronous; advised for this integration): After selecting this mode, the private Dashboard View opens, allowing you to view students’ names next to their responses in real-time. Students can navigate easily through the slides in your presentation session and react to the interactive questions when they open this assignment using the basic navigation controls in their Student View.
- Instructor-Paced Mode (synchronous): This mode opens the projector view, where responses are by default anonymous. You must click through the slides so that students can see them and reply to interactive questions since the Student View of the slides syncs up to your slide on the Projector View.
- Within Schoology, you have now made a new Pear Deck Session for your class.
Did You finish your assignment?
The Pear Deck session needs to be in student-paced mode for students to “turn in” their homework. Your students’ Schoology page now features the Student View, so just do the following:
- Enter Schoology.
- Choose your path.
- To access the Student View of the Session, click on the Pear Deck Assignment. They can navigate the slides and answer interactive prompts.
- They select Submit Work to finish the task and submit it.
Grade your assignment
You may track the progress of individual students’ assignments in Schoology and grade assignments based on completion. Additionally, you can use the Dashboard to see answers and manually enter grades in the Gradebook. Pear Deck also allows you to assess specific responses.
In Schoology
- Go to Gradebook in Schoology after opening it.
- Go to Course Options and choose Grades. To personalise your grading options, use the Schoology tools.
- To access the Teacher Dashboard, return to the Courses page and click the Assignment link. If the Projector View is active, select the 3-dot menu to open the Dashboard in a new tab to view the individual responses with their names by clicking on the slides in the Dashboard.
- To change point values, toggle back to the Gradebook.
- You can leave Pear Deck Teacher Feedback for specific students in the Dashboard.
